Dehydrated

STRAWBERRIES

Often called "strawberry chips", these dried strawberries are both healthy and delicious! Making dehydrated strawberries in a food dehydrator is a great way to preserve fruit and also makes for a perfect snack!

INGREDIENTS

INGREDIENTS

Fresh Strawberries Sugar (Optional)

Wash and hull the strawberries. Be sure to cut out any bad spots on the fruit.  Cut the strawberries in half or slice each into 1/4 inch thick slices.

Place all the strawberry slices onto the food dehydrator racks, several inches apart.  Cook on 135° in the dehydrator.  If you are drying strawberry halves, it will take 16-18 hours. If you are dehydrating slices, it will take about 8 hours.

Once they have completely cooled, remove the strawberries from racks using fingers.  Store in glass jars or in an airtight container.

NOTES: Use an egg slicer to evenly slice strawberries. By vacuum sealing the fruit, you increase the shelf life and reduce any chance for mold to grow.  You can mix strawberries in some sugar for added sweetness prior to dehydrating.
