Equipment

  • Air Fryer

Ingredients

Chili Lime Chickpeas

  • 15 ounce can of chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil or olive oil based cooking spray
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin, ground
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon dry mustard
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 lime wedge

Instructions

  • Start by rinsing and draining the can of chickpeas.
  • Lay the chickpeas on a paper towel and let air dry for about 10-15 minutes. Once dry, pour the chickpeas into the air fryer basket. Spread them out evenly so they are not stacked on top of each other.
  • Manually set the air fryer to 390°F.
  • Start the air fryer and cook for 5 minutes.
  • After 5 minutes, open the basket and spray the chickpeas with a a non-stick cooking spray or baste with olive oil. Shake the basket and then close the basket door.
  • Cook for 5 more minutes and then open the basket again.
  • Slowly and evenly sprinkle on 1 tablespoon of the chilli lime seasoning. Shake the basket well, close the basket door, and continue to cook for 5 more minutes.
  • Open the air fryer basket and sprinkle on another tablespoon of chili lime seasoning. Close the basket and continue cooking for the remaining 2 minutes.
  • Once done, remove the chickpeas from the basket and place in a bowl. Sprinkle on the remaining seasoning and stir to combine.
  • Cut a lime into 6 wedges and squeeze the juice from 1 wedge onto the chickpeas and stir. The lime juice really makes the flavor "pop"! Serve immediately.
  • Store any leftovers in a brown paper bag.

Notes

  • I uses the 5.8-Quart Cosori Air Fryer. It's intuitive, has 11 presets, and comes with a detachable basket that is easy to clean.
  • Using olive oil helps the chickpeas become crunch and also helps the seasoning to stick better.
  • If you're in a hurry, you don't have to dry the chickpeas. Just make sure they are not dripping wet before putting them in the basket.
  • These chickpeas are meant to be crispy and crunchy. To store leftovers, place the air fried chickpeas in a paper bag. If you store them in a baggie or in tupperware, they will become soggy.
