  1. Heat olive oil in a saucepan over medium. Add onion and garlic and saute for 1 minute, until soft.

  2. Add fresh and canned tomatoes, basil, oregano, salt, and pepper. Cover and bring to a boil, then lower heat and simmer for 20 minutes.

  3. Working in batches, transfer tomato mixture to a blender. Add beans and chicken broth.
  4. Puree for 2 minutes. Once well blended, return mixture to the saucepan and simmer for 5 minutes, covered.
  5. Add in the butter and Parmesan cheese and stir until melted. Serve immediately.
