- 1 Tablespoon lemon juice, freshly squeezed
- ½ cup water
- 6 bananas, sliced
Add the lemon juice and water into a spray bottle. Set aside.
Peel the bananas and cut them into ¼ inch thick slices.
Put the banana slices on the dehydrator tray and spray them with the lemon water.
Put the trays into the dehydrator and dehydrate at 125°F for about 10 hours or until the banana chips are brittle and feel dry to the touch.
When done, allow the dehydrated bananas to cool for at least 30 minutes before enjoying.
- You can make as little or as many dehydrated banana chips as you want! Just use more bananas. It's that simple!
- To ensure you are cutting the bananas consistently at the right thickness, use a Mandoline. They have adjustable blades, allowing you to slice at the exact thickness you need.
- Use parchment paper or a silicone mat on the dehydrator trays to prevent the bananas from sticking.
- To make long banana slices (also called banana leather), cut the banana lengthwise and ¼ inch thick. Spray with lemon water and dehydrate for 12 hours.
- When storing for a long period of time, adding a moisture-absorbing desiccant packet is helpful, as each time the container is opened, moisture can enter.
- Make sure to store the dehydrated bananas in a cool, dark place, like a pantry.
- For an extra-special treat, dip your dehydrated banana chips in warm, melted chocolate!
