2 classes of Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie on a wooden table, caramel sauce, dates and green apples on table.

Hi, Recipes Worth Repeating readers!  My name is Kelli Shallal, I'm a Registered Dietitian and the blogger behind healthy living blog Hungry Hobby, I'm also a Phoenix local just like Amanda! If you are on the west coast like us, you might be craving fall flavors but the forecast in the upper 90's might keep you from breaking out your slow cooker just yet.

Enter fall flavored smoothies.  AKA how Arizona people pretend it's fall.  But, no worries if you live somewhere cold you can still whip this one up, it's especially delicious post workout!

The real star of the show of this smoothie is this date caramel sauce I posted on Hungry Hobby recently!

For the Love of Caramel and Dates

My love of caramel far outweighs my fondness for chocolate. When I discovered Medjool dates, a naturally dried fruit, taste exactly like natures version of my favorite candy I was sold. I use dates to make date caramel or add a buttery sweet flavor to just about anything.

In my eyes, just about the only thing better than caramel, is a caramel apple.  My favorite sucker as a kid were those caramel apple suckers that had the most ridiculously sticky caramel center. YUM!

I did not care that chewing it felt like chewing cement; it was worth it.  Please tell me you know which ones I'm talking about!?!?! Do they still make those? Wait, I don't want to know.  My teeth legitimately cannot handle that kind of thing anymore unless I want new crowns.... #adulting.

I also can't handle the blood sugar crash anymore either.  That's why this smoothie has a big dose of protein, healthy fat, and fiber, to create a more stable blood sugar response.  It will satisfy all your caramel apple cravings and provide nutrients at the same time. Grown-up win! Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie in glass on a wooden table, straw in glass.

Plus what's better than a cold, creamy smoothie after a hard workout?  Um, nothing, it's the perfect post-workout meal!  Since I was pregnant when I shot this recipe though, my workouts were not that hard, but my dessert game was ON POINT.  I happily ate this for dinner/dessert one night.  Cravings officially outsmarted!  Let me know if you try it. It's sooooooo good!

I love a good protein smoothie for breakfast! But I think I'd have a hard time stopping at one serving with one that sounds this delicious.

Goodness, the weather here in the UK is beginning to turn very chilly and it's difficult to remember the soaring temperatures we had in the summer. But even though we're not enjoying 90 degrees here your recipe for Caramel Apple Protein Smoothie looks absolutely delicious for any time of year and the date caramel on the top is a lovely addition!
