The Easiest Creamed Spinach Recipe
Creamed Spinach is one of those foods that doesn’t look so appetizing but tastes absolutely amazing! And it pairs extremely well with just about any main dish, like this Southern Style Pot Roast or my Roasted Apple Chicken. I especially love this spinach recipe during the holidays. I think I could eat this everyday and never get sick of it. It’s so good that I would honestly have no problem at all grabbing a bag of tortilla chips and just eating it like it was spinach artichoke dip. It’s that good!
What is Creamed Spinach?
This creamed spinach recipe is made with frozen spinach. Not only does that make things more convenient, but it also contributes to the texture being super smooth. For this recipe you’ll need 2 packages of cut leaf frozen spinach, shredded mozzarella cheese, sour cream, and 1 dry packet of onion soup. A lot of recipes use cream cheese when making creamed spinach, but I use sour cream. Cream cheese tends to make it too thick and rich. I’ve found that by using sour cream, the taste and consistency is perfectly balanced!
How To Make Creamed Spinach
It’s so simple! Here’s what you do:
- In a large pan, cook the frozen spinach according to package directions and then drain.
- Add the drained spinach back into the pan.
- Then, mix together the cooked spinach, sour cream, and Dry Onion Soup Mix.
- Mix well and add to an oven safe baking dish.
- Top with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- Bake for 20 minutes uncovered at 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
And now you have yourself a mouthwatering delicious baked creamed spinach side dish that everyone will rave about! Creamy, delicious, and full of flavor!
Can you Freeze Spinach?
Yes! To freeze this recipe, all you need to do is follow steps 1-3 and let it completely cool. Store in a freezer-safe container or gallon Ziplock bag for up to 3 months. To thaw, remove from the freezer and place in the refrigerator. Once thawed, placed the spinach in an oven safe dish and cook uncovered for 20 minutes.
