    • How To Make An Apple Martini

    ✔️ Quick Recipe Overview

Why This Is The Best Apple Martini: Also known as an "appletini", this sour apple martini cocktail is cold, crisp, and refreshing! This recipe ensures your cocktail will be super smooth every time you make it!

How Long It Takes: 3 minutes

Equipment You'll Need: cocktail shaker, martini glass

While I enjoy going out and having a good cocktail at a local bar or restaurant, I sure do enjoy making my own drinks at home. Around the holidays I love making this champagne Christmas cocktail as well as this apple martini recipe. Not only is it delicious, but it's so easy to make! And it pairs amazingly well with this marinated cheese and this strawberry cream cheese dip served with crackers.

There is a wide range of different apple martini recipes out there, but this one is the perfect combination of both sweet and sour. It tastes like a crisp granny smith apple with a small hint of sweetness. Every sip is refreshing!

Two martini glasses filled with a Green Apple Martini Cocktail sitting on a black table, cocktail mixer and three green apples in the background.

The perfect balance of both sweet and tart, this is a vodka based apple martini recipe. To make it, all you need to do is add some ice to a cocktail shaker, pour in the liquid ingredients, shake, and pour! It's the perfect cocktail to kick off the weekend, and it's also great for the holiday season!

    ✔️ Why This Recipe Works

    1. It comes together in minutes.

    2. Pouring this freshly made apple martini into a chilled martini glass is a game changer taste wise!

    3. The taste is super flavorful and deliciously smooth.

    4. I especially enjoy making this around Halloween, Christmas, New Year's, or St. Patrick's Day!

    🛒 Ingredients You'll Need

There are only 3 ingredients in this apple martini. In many martini drink recipes, vodka is used as the base. Using a good quality vodka is key to making this a super smooth martini. Grey Goose is a premium vodka that is distilled 5 times which makes it extremely smooth. Belvedere, Tower Vodka, and Absolut vodka are also great choices when making this martini.

Instead of using lemon juice or apple cider, I use sour apple mix because it pairs incredibly well with the apple schnapps and balances out the sour flavor with a hint of sweetness. Sour apple schnapps is a liqueur and is key to adding the green color as well as the sour apple taste. It's tart like a granny smith apple and has a nice fresh flavor.

The ingredients can easily be found in a local grocery store or a liquor store. But, we also live in a world where if you need something immediately but don't have the time to go out and get it, you can order it online and it shows on your doorstep. And that's why I use Drizly when I want to make my own cocktails at home.

It partners with local stores so you can literally shop their shelves using your phone or computer to order beer, wine, and liquor at the touch of a button. You just go to the Drizly website, enter your address, and their site will find what stores participate in your area. Choose the store closest to you, add the items to the cart, and then that store will pack it up and deliver it to you! There's no price markups and it's extremely convenient!

🍸 How To Chill A Martini Glass

Using a chilled martini glass when serving this drink is important to obtain that perfect chilled taste. A lot of people ask if you can put glass in the freezer. And the answer is yes because glass has no freezing point. Chilling a glass for your cocktail is perfectly safe and will help keep the martini even colder while you sip it.

To chill a martini glass, put it in the freezer for at least 30 minutes and then take it out just before pouring the drink. You can also skip the freezer part and just chill the glass with ice. Simply fill the martini glass to the top of the rim with ice. Fill with water and let it sit for at least 2-3 minutes. Then, dump the ice and water and pour in the freshly shaken apple martini.

    📋 Step-By-Step Recipe Instructions

Learning how to make an apple martini has never been so easy. Start by pouring the vodka, schnapps, and sour apple mix into a cocktail shaker.

Add 3-4 cubes of ice to the cocktail shaker, put the lid on, and shake vigorously for 12-15 seconds.

Expert Tip! Shaking a drink for 12-15 seconds is just enough time for the liquids to become nice and cold. Using a stainless steel or copper shaker will yield a colder, more frosty martini.

Open the shaker and then strain the liquid into a chilled martini glass.

This ice cold apple martini is bursting with fresh flavor in every sip! Garnish with apple slices and enjoy!

    👩‍🍳 Variations

Use a smooth vodka for best results. Using a flavored vodka, such as citrus or even apple flavored, adds to the depth of flavor with every sip. Traditionally, vodka is typically made from wheat, rye, or barley, but there are some vodkas that are corn and potato based that are really good and smooth. Some wheat free vodkas that work well in this drink are Three Olives Vodka, Monopolowa Vodka or Boyd & Blair Potato Vodka. And while apple martinis are typically made with vodka, you'll sometimes see them made with gin.

Apple schnapps is derived from apples and has a nice fruity taste. It brings that wonderful flavor to this classic cocktail. Brands I recommend are Mr Stacks Sour Apple Schnapps and DeKuyper Sour Apple Pucker Schnapps Liqueur. For sour apple mix, try using Rose's Infusion Sour Apple Mix or Master of Mixes Sour Apple.

While this cocktail is already quite strong and has a high alcohol content, you can make it even stronger by adding more vodka. Or, you can leave out the sour apple mix. To cut some of the sweetness, leave out the sour apple mix and add in fresh lemon juice. To make it sweeter, add a small dash of simple syrup. For a hint of orange flavor, try adding in a splash of Cointreau. A splash of Midori will add a hint of fresh melon flavor.

🍸 How To Rim A Martini Glass

Rimming a glass is not only easy to do, but it adds texture and flavor to the cocktail you're drinking. To rim a martini glass, pour 3-4 tablespoons of sugar into a flat dish. Slightly dip the martini glass in either citrus juice or water and then dip the rim of the glass into the sugar. Then, pour in the martini.

Using sugar will make every sip sweeter. To add a fun fall twist, try mixing in ground cinnamon with the sugar and then dipping the rim. To turn this into a caramel apple martini, simply dip the rim of the glass in caramel sauce.

    🙋 Frequently Asked Questions

Is sour apple mix and apple schnapps the same thing?

No. Sour apple mix is an infusion and contains no alcohol. It is sweet like simple syrup and adds a sweet flavor to this cocktail recipe. Apple schnapps is a liqueur and contains alcohol. It contains apple and provides that bright green color.

How do I measure cocktail ingredients?

Jiggers are typically used when measuring liquids for cocktails. They feature two conjoining cups that have different measurements. The larger side of the jigger has a volume of one and a half ounces, which is 1 shot here in the US. The smaller side holds ¾ of an ounce. A shot glass is 1.5 ounces. If you don't have a shot glass or a jigger, you can use measuring spoons. 1.5 ounce equals 3 tablespoons. ¾ of an ounce is 1.5 tablespoons.

    Is a cocktail shaker necessary?

Yes. When making an apple martini, a cocktail shaker is needed. Not only does it ensure a consistent taste, but it chills and dilutes the liquids.

    💭 4 Tips For Success

    • Make sure the sour apple mix hasn't expired. When stored at room temperature, it's good for about 12 months.
    • If you don't have a cocktail shaker, use a blender bottle, protein shaker, or a mason jar.
    • Garnish the martini glass with fresh slices of green apples. A thin lemon rind twist is also another great way to garnish.
    • To keep the apples from browning, dip them in lemon juice.
