    • How to Make Air Fryer Crispy Chickpeas

Who would have thought you could make chickpeas in an air fryer? But, you can make just about anything in this handy tool and these crispy chickpeas are my new favorite snack! Not only are they tasty and filling, you can make these in less than 30 minutes, from start to finish! Cooking chickpeas has never been so convenient!

    ℹ️ Why This Recipe Works

    1. The basic recipe for making chickpeas in an air fryer is the same every time you make a batch. But, you can season them however you want. In this post, you'll find 5 different seasoning ideas that are easy and delicious!

    2. This is a super healthy recipe. Chickpea nutrition includes 15 grams of protein and 13 grams of fiber for 1 cup.

    3. Eating chickpeas as a snack is not only convenient for grab-and-go, but also tastes fantastic!

    4. They're done way faster than roasting chickpeas in the oven.

    🛒 Ingredients You'll Need

This recipe uses minimal and simple ingredients. You can either use a can of chickpeas (also called Garbanzo Beans) or you can make your own from a bag of hard Garbanzo Beans. The easiest and fastest method is to use canned chickpeas. While there are many different chickpea seasonings, I'm going to start by giving you the ingredients to a Chili Lime Chickpea recipe.

For chili lime chickpeas, I use several dry seasonings like cumin, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. The flavor is great, but when you add fresh squeezed lime juice onto the chickpeas, the flavor goes from good to fantastic!

Cumin, chili powder, salt, smoked paprika, garlic powder, dry mustard, garbanzo beans and lime on counter.

    📋 Step-By-Step Recipe Instructions

Start by rinsing and draining the can of chickpeas in a colander. Lay the chickpeas on a paper towel and let them air dry for 10-15 minutes. Once they are dry, put the chickpeas into the basket. Spread them out evenly so they are not stacked on top of each other.

In a small bowl, combine the chili powder, cumin, salt, dry mustard, paprika, and garlic powder. Set aside. Manually set the temperature to 390°F. Press the start button and cook for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes, open the basket and spray the chickpeas with a a non-stick olive oil based cooking spray or gently baste on some olive oil. Shake the basket and then close. Expert Tip: This helps the chickpeas become crunchy and also helps the seasoning to stick better.

Open the basket and sprinkle on another tablespoon of the chili lime seasoning. Shake the basket again, close the basket and continue air frying for 2 more minutes.

When they are done, use a large spoon to remove them from the basket and place them in a bowl. Sprinkle on the remaining chili lime seasoning and stir to combine. Cut a lime into 6 wedges and squeeze the juice from 1 wedge onto the chickpeas and stir. The lime juice really makes the flavor "pop"! Serve immediately.

    💭 Expert Tips

    • I use the 5.8-Quart Cosori Air Fryer. It's intuitive, has 11 presets, and comes with a detachable basket that is easy to clean.
    • If you're in a hurry, you don't have to dry the chickpeas. Just make sure they are not dripping wet before putting them in the basket.
    • These chickpeas are meant to be crispy and crunchy. To store leftovers, place the air fried chickpeas in a paper bag. If you store them in a baggie or in tupperware, they will become soggy.
    • If you like a bit of crunchy on your salad, then add these air fried chickpeas! They taste better and are more nutritious than croutons!
